1. Who we are
JoiTalk is a peer consultation platform operating at joitalk.fun. We connect users with verified peer consultants for short, focused conversations on finance, love, career and mindset. Reach us at support@joitalk.fun.
2. What we collect
When you sign up: name, email, phone number, age, and a password (stored as a one-way bcrypt hash — we cannot recover it).
When you sign in with Google: your name, email, profile picture, and a unique Google user ID.
When you book a session: chosen topic, your situation description, mood (optional), and a UPI transaction ID. We do not see or store card or banking details.
When you apply as a consultant: identity documents (Aadhaar and profile photo), expertise area, and a personal narrative. These are used for verification only.
Automatic data: IP address (in server logs for 30 days), browser type, and approximate location for fraud prevention.
3. How we use it
- To create and operate your account
- To verify your payment and confirm sessions
- To send confirmations, reminders and meeting links
- To respond to your support requests
- To prevent fraud and abuse
- To improve service quality (see Section 4)
We do not use your data for advertising, behavioural profiling, or selling to third parties — ever.
4. Session monitoring & recording
To keep both users and consultants safe — and to maintain service quality — our Quality team may join sessions silently, or sessions may be recorded by an automated assistant. Recordings are stored encrypted, accessible only to our QA team, and deleted within 90 days unless flagged for a dispute.
Personal details you choose to share with your consultant remain confidential. We do not transcribe, index, or share session content with third parties.
5. Google sign-in
If you choose to sign in with Google, we request only the openid, email, and profile scopes. We never access your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or other Google services. Your Google password is never seen or stored by us.
6. Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies:
PHPSESSID— keeps you signed in. Expires when you close your browser or after 24 hours.jt_cookie_consent— remembers that you've acknowledged our cookie banner. Expires after 1 year.
We use no advertising cookies, third-party trackers, analytics pixels, or fingerprinting. You may clear cookies via your browser at any time; doing so will sign you out.
7. Third-party services
- Google Sign-In — authentication only
- Google Meet — to host your video session (governed by Google's Privacy Policy)
- Gmail SMTP — to send you transactional emails
- UPI payment apps — your bank handles the payment; we only see the transaction reference you enter
8. Data retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active and for up to 12 months after your last session, unless legal obligations require longer. Recordings (if any) are deleted within 90 days. You may request earlier deletion at any time — see Section 9.
9. Your rights
You can request to:
- Access a copy of your data
- Correct any inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Restrict or object to specific uses
